715591 2008-10-28 22:44:00 As I have said in other posts, SWMBO, myself and Grandaughter are on holiday in Oz. If, while we are here, we were to smack our Grandaughter on the bum, will the smacking police be waiting for us at the airport on our return to NZ?

Or, can we claim that we were at least 12miles offshore?

Just a thought... :banana

715592 2008-10-28 22:54:00 How old's the granddaughter? Since she's probably only there to carry the old farts' bags and make sure you're OK, you should be nice :) PaulD (232)
715593 2008-10-29 00:34:00 Well, of course, now you've alerted them, expect to see them waiting for you just this side of MAF when you come back. Whether you've done the smacking deed or not will be irrelevant - you thought about it, so that will be enough.

As far as I know, Australia is not in the NZ jurisdiction. BUt then you know that.

You could have just said you want to hit your grandaughter in Australia and what do we all think...

715599 2008-10-31 03:09:00 A few years ago a client of mine had the misfortune to have his 16 yo son "steal" his new Rover car.
He got a call from the Kaitaia Police to advise that his car had been involved in a minor accident, and that the Police were holding his son.
On ascertaining the car was drivable, he got a flight from Auckland, and eventually fronted up with the Kaitaia police to claim his car.
When he was collecting his car the Sergeant said "I'll get your son for you"
His reply "Don't bother he is all yours", and he drove back to Auckland.
He told me his wife wouldn't talk to him for ages but it was well worth it.

Far better if his son had had his arse kicked a few times and learnt to respect other peoples property.
