831361 2009-11-18 21:35:00 Have a new computer (Windows 7 Professional, x64-based PC, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz, 2793 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical. RAM-6.00 GB. 2TB HDD.) and is usual drivers appear to be a @#$% problem!
Canon cannot supply a 64 bit driver for a Canon LBP5000 Laser printer – any suggestions?!
Thanks

831362 2009-11-18 21:37:00 Nope - I have a similar printer (LBP-5100), and because of the lack of 64-bit drivers I'm stuck with a 32-bit OS. If you find a workaround, I'd love to know what it is. somebody (208)
831363 2009-11-18 21:43:00 Will do – excellent quick reply from Canon NZ but have told them that they will start loosing custom – excellent products but poor web site and driver support. stuffed (1469)

831366 2009-11-18 22:04:00 If they don't have it, they don't have it.

Either set up an old computer as a print server or get a new printer

There's nothing in it for Canon to make a 64-bit driver

Would setting up a print server actually work though? Computers connecting to the print server still need to install the driver, don't they?

You have one choice - replace the printer.
And check drivers before buying.

Appreciate the input but am a little “surprised” at these comments. The printer is 2 ½ years old.
If suppliers of any product were to adapt these attitudes – consumers would react accordinly……..

831370 2009-11-20 21:19:00 Ok had a “bright” idea – plugged the printer into an XP PC already on the network and installed the drivers and made it a network printer. Back to the new W7 64 bit PC and tried to list the printer on the network but nope – it wanted to install drivers so back to square one.
Any suggestions?!
Thanks
