830837 2009-11-16 21:55:00 Can sometime tell me where "NOTEPAD" lives in windows 7?

I am trying to edit a config file and I want to open it in notepad. However config opens in another program. When I try to change it I have to enter the address to notepad. And I can't find it.
If I open notepad it does not have it's address showing.
Help please.

830838 2009-11-16 22:04:00 In Vista & Win7, just type Notepad. It will appear in the options. Right click>Properties>Link is there.

In this case, it may look a lil funny with % and stuff, but in essence, like any Operating System program, it'll be in System32.

C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe

Easy peasy!

That is where it lives even in Win 7 64 bit.

830840 2009-11-16 23:30:00 It hasn't moved since forever. It's even still in C:\Windows (not system32). pcuser42 (130)

Yes. But if you type Notepad and open containing folder it opens C:\Windows\system32 so I would presume that is the exe that actually runs.

Errrrr --No, its in system32 look at the target path (www.imagef1.net.nz)

Edited:

BUT just to save any confusion It's actually in both locations, Windows & System32 folders - I just looked.

Same place as always - Accessories.
The actual file location is also the same - syste32 folder.

You just have .txt files set to open by default with something else.
