830653 2009-11-16 02:25:00 Anyone know of one?

I just tried PLoP but it only does USB flash drives I think, not CD\DVD....

830654 2009-11-16 02:35:00 Have you checked out Smart Boot Manager? Can't remember if it does USB though.. And I think BootItNG does everything as well

830656 2009-11-16 03:02:00 I have tried Smart Boot Manager before but I don't think it does USB

Those other two seem to need windows already installed to be able to work.

I want to be able to load the bootloader from a floppy or CD so I can access the USB DVD drive and install Server 2008...

BootITNG creates a floppy or CD from an Image, and you boot from that to install it.

830658 2009-11-16 03:18:00 So you want to install Server server 2008 from a USB drive ??

If so, go to either a Vista or W7 PC Follow these instruction (kmwoley.com) - they are for W7 but work should work the same for Server 2008. I've done XP, Vista & W7 this way.

WARNING: If you do this method, make SURE you have the right drive number for the USB drive, I was in a hurry once and wiped the wrong drive OOPS! :o

830659 2009-11-16 03:49:00 No, not a flash drive, the actual DVD but installed using a USB connected DVD drive (the computer doesn't have a DVD drive or USB DVD BIOS support) Athough it does have options for USB floppy and ZIP which don't work of course Agent_24 (57)
830660 2009-11-16 04:03:00 is there no BIOS update avaliable to give your PC a USB Boot feature? baabits (15242)

Been googling but can't find any solutions, will keep looking

830662 2009-11-16 04:07:00 Cripes must be an old Computer if it doesn't even support USB drives.

Take the side off the case and plug in a normal IDE DVD drive.
