Ah well, at least hundreds of thousands of our productive population have been driven over-seas. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. The reason the labour party are so smug and arrogant is because the population of NZ is a bunch of mugs. Can't fathom the **** we put up with, with barely a whimper. |

| 714348 | 2008-10-27 08:42:00 | So what do we want from the government, one that micro manages our lives, To some extent - that extent being what is realistically possible through regulation and statute. or one that creates aspirations and establishes an environment in which those aspirations can be fulfilled? Governments don't create aspirations for me. However, infrastructure is one of the main roles of government and as part of market infrastructure, regulating greed and the more brutal aspects of capitalism could be said to be part of that environment. There are some on here that think Helen is the one to do that,I await the evidence! I think Helen Clark's government has failed in many respects - and succeeded in some. I think that faced with the choice between National and Labour I have to vote Labour because National's caucus is nearly empty of talent and I can only see about five people in their party who could take a portfolio and handle it with any professionalism. A National led cabinet will lack leadership which will allow the chief executives of govt departments too much leeway. |

| 714349 | 2008-10-27 08:57:00 | I keep hearing Labour and their supporters saying "but where will the money come from?". Need I remind you we have been over-taxed for the past 9 years? From such a position, I presume labour supporters asking such questions are happy to continue to be over-taxed. Well if that is the case then go for it, but don't expect the rest of us to stand idly by while we are being robbed by our very own government! A budget surplus is not an entitlement of any government - it means we are being over-taxed! Pure and simple. Whilst this concept may be hard for some to grasp, the next might be a little bit harder : not only are we being over-taxed but cullen's method of cash accounting went out in the 70's such that he is counting the cost of capital projects as expenses and considers purchases on capital accounts have to be funded from revenue sources, not capital sources. The accounting is complete and utter bollocks. And the inability to recognise the need for capital funding for capital projects displays the financial naivety of a 12 year old school boy. Every 6 months for the past 9 years we have had cullen telling us out of one side of his mouth that there is a record surplus, and in the same breath out of the other side of his mouth he announces he can't afford tax cuts. Now we are in an election year, guess what? Ta da, like Merlin the Magician he can afford them! Well here's the bad news people - he could have afforded these years ago but morons keep voting him and his fellow idealistic helengrad cronies back into power. God forbid they should get back into power. I'd bet within 6 months we have a smug little cullen stating we can't actually afford the tax cuts any more.....he is a dangerous little man. |

With the luck we're having at the moment, on the next roll, we'll pick up a card that says "Go to Jail. Go directly to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not pick up $200." Or we'll land on Mayfair, with a Hotel on it.... |
