I'd say you can build an at least equivalent or better PC for less. Anything apple carries a premium, for example their flat panels are about 50% more expensive than an equivalent/superior item with more features (23" cinema display: ~$1578; 24" HP 2475: ~$990).

The premium is for the design and materials (brushed aluminium vs plastic), so I guess it -could- be considered fair price if looks are important.

There are also many threads here about apple ram vs standard ram.

715649 2008-10-30 03:59:00 I had a quick look at the screen shots.

They look nice.

But it looks to me like if you get Windows 7 you are just paying for some pretty icons and a tamer system tray. They will have an even harder job getting business to upgrade their networks just for that, than they are having from XP to Vista !

715650 2008-10-30 04:00:00 Just remember that this is a pre-release version - it's not feature-complete. :) pcuser42 (130)
715651 2008-10-30 04:58:00 Windows 7, they have only just sorted Windows 6. I still use Windows 5. At work we use Windows 4 (I'm on a roll here :) ) dolby digital (5073)
