On whether you'll get infected or notI think that is the most pertinent comment this thread has seen. Many of the scary comments made have assumed you are going to actively put your self in danger, but IMHO if you are sensible and wary, the actual chances of you being infected are quite small - and it is just you using the PC. That is why it seems to me a hardware firewall in the router is probably going to stop nearly all the stuff that is not being actively courted by you. | Tony (4941) | ||
| 830947 | 2009-11-22 02:03:00 | its really difficult to answer this question with sweeping generalisations of the word "firewall" and exactly what they protect against For example there are firewall's out there that do AV inspection of traffic passing over HTTP, and will remove or restrict the client from seeing that infected content when visiting the site etc Just sayin... |
