2008-10-25 23:33:00 | 1 250 GB. Partitioned into 3 80 GB partitions Could probably fit one more in, under the hdd thats in here now. The hdd is in its own cage on the bottom of this case. Cant put a lot in the case tho, since the mobo is MATX, so is the case. I find it doesnt pick up as much dust as ATX cases. And the wires/cables are easier to hide There's only 2 5 1/4 bays (the dvd burner's in one), and 2 3.5 bays (the card reader is in one) I dont need a lot of space. If I need more space, I'll just transfer whatever over to one of the other 2 networked PC's

2008-10-26 00:43:00 | Was starting to run out of space on a 320GB drive - thought of getting a bigger drive.... ...and then I actually took a look at what was on there. So I deleted a whole bunch of stuff, wrote some seldom used stuff to DVD and to the 500GB external drive, and freed up about 100GB...

2008-10-26 00:47:00 | On a side note, has anyone using Vista noticed how quickly it eats HD space for restore points or is it just me? On my 250GB (232GB usable) I saw it had 150GB remaining - and only about 30GB of that was files. When I told System restore to only keep the most recent restore point I had 200GB remaining. Is it just me or is this excessive amount of space to use for restore points??

2008-10-26 01:36:00 | On a side note, has anyone using Vista noticed how quickly it eats HD space for restore points or is it just me? Its Not just you -- Just done a bit of reading /looking from one site: With the default settings turned on, System Restore might use up to 15 percent of the space on each disk. For example, if you have a 250GB hard disk drive, System Restore might end up using 37,5GB of it. That is a lot of space. To reduce the amount System Restore Uses have a look at This site here (www.howtogeek.com) Just be careful as the less space system restore has the less you can wind back a system in time. Read the comments as well - one from Wayne london gives a good idea s to how much you may require Mine is set for 5 GBs and I only have about a 4 day window to catch a problem and restore if necessary.

Still about 400GB free space. Sounds like you are well organised. It seems there are a few 1TB's out there. I will have to get one soon. |
