| 714442 | 2008-10-24 06:12:00 | Erm, yeah... Taking a three week tiki tour tip to toe around the country in November and want ideas on what I can do. The following are a list that I can do. Queenstown I can probably do most of them. Dunedin I have a choice and can't decide. Queenstown I have three days to do what I want, Dunedin I have just the one day. Queenstown: Bungee, Shotover Jet (if the river is cleared), Paraglide, Parachute, Hang Glide, Fish, LOTR tour, Cant do Bridge Swing (Too Fat :p) Dunedin: See Cadbury or Monteiths Factory, Train Ride, Lonarch (sp) Castle, Visit Dunedin Asian Grocery Supplies... What else... |

| 714448 | 2008-10-24 20:02:00 | Queenstown luge with a bunch of mates, what about the Tairi gorge train trip down south, back to queenstown try out the local girls....:drool 3 days would give you enough time to do the Routeburn track well worth the effort | gary67 (56) | ||
| 714449 | 2008-10-24 23:15:00 | Queenstown: Take a day trip to Milford Sound and do a boat trip there . It would be a crime to miss it if you are going all that way and don't see it . The ride from Te Anau to Milford is absolutely stunning as is the boat ride . DO NOT MISS IT . Dunedin: If you don't do the train ride, visit the railway station for a good look anyway . It is the most photographed building in NZ for good reason . I also thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the streets of Dunedin gawking at the lovely old homes and other architecture . Lanarch Castle is nice, as is the drive to it . I haven't done the Taieri Gorge train ride so can't say what it is like but it might be better than visiting Lanarch Castle . If you are interested in the Cadbury factory, email or phone them before you go to find out what parts of the factory will be open when you are there . We missed out because half of it was closed at the time (but they still charged the same price! :() but a family member has since been back and enjoyed it . Where else are you going on the Tiki Tour? |

| 714450 | 2008-10-25 02:18:00 | I just had a week in Dunedin and did a couple of days to Queenstown less than a month ago and also last Xmas/New Year we had 3 days at Queenstown, plus took in Te Anau, Milford, Wanaka etc. Dunedin: Cadbury tour during the week instead of at weekend as more of it is open. Natures Wonders tour at the end of the Peninsula was good. The 8WD Argo ride on that trip was great. Lanarch's Castle was a waste of time in my opinion, ok for a oncer but since I lived down that way for most of my life I have been a few times. Speights tour is a below average tour considering I have done several of the European Brewery tours in the past that puts Speights to shame. Taieri Gorge trip is good, but it is a long trip. Dunedin railway station is certainly worth a quick look, takes all of 10 minutes to go in look up and take a few photos. A great old building indeed. Queenstown: We did the Luge which was fun, not cheap and not as good as Rotorua's one. Only two tracks and a bit shorter than Rotorua. I am not a bungee person so can't comment on that. We did a 4WD trip up to Macetown. A fantastic trip that crosses the river about 40 odd times. The other trip we did some years ago is the Skippers Gorge trip. Quite good but I liked the Macetown one better by far. Also several Jet Boat companies operate there. A trip on the Earnslaw maybe if you like old steam boats and a farm show on the other side at a Sheep Station. And as Foxy says the Milford trip is great. It is a long day to do it from Queenstown but it can be done. If the weather is fine you see the tops of the hills and it is nicer outside on the boat, but if it is raining it has it's own benefits like better waterfalls. Queenstown caters for most from the oldies like me that want a more sedate life to the Adrenalin junkies that just want to be scared ****less time after time. |
