831286 2009-11-18 05:00:00 is there still a way to purchase Office 2003?

OEM does not give downgrade rights if you purchase 2007...

So is the only way through sites like Trademe?

831287 2009-11-18 06:36:00 Welcome to PF1. :)

Office 2003 has been discontinued by MS - so places like Trademe or maybe if you are real lucky some shop "may" have a odd copy still around. But it wont be to easy to find, OEM or Retail.

831288 2009-11-18 06:54:00 Yeah 2nd hand is probably the best way to go (and it'll probably be cheaper!)

But you also might want to consider OpenOffice...

I so want to make a comment along the lines of people about this, but I can't think of a coherent response.

It's kind of like an Xbox user being told they should try another platform...

831290 2009-11-18 07:18:00 Well, Microsoft Office was the only thing I had until OpenOffice 3 came out. I doubt I will go back Agent_24 (57)
831291 2009-11-18 07:23:00 Don't use macros, or VBA? the_bogan (9949)
831292 2009-11-18 07:27:00 Never needed to, and probably won't. It's good for me as it is, and it's free.

Of course not everyone will find it works for them but as Jonnie doesn't seem to want 2007, I figured suggesting OpenOffice as an alternative to 2003 (they look almost the same) would be a good idea...

831293 2009-11-18 07:53:00 There is another option as well, if you wanted a office program that works EXACTLY like office 2003, and looks very much the same then have a look at Ability office (http://www.ability.com/).

How MS have not done them for copy rights is a surprise Here's a screen shot of Ability Word And Excell (www.imagef1.net.nz). ( they call it write and spreadsheet - You can save the files as MS documents Example (www.imagef1.net.nz), and it costs a lot less than MS Office.

831294 2009-11-18 08:12:00 Why don't you try open office?

831295 2009-11-18 09:56:00 Open Office does not seem to have an equivalent to my MS Office Professional Plus for some reason which is why I won't be using Open Office.

Added to that I am doing a level 3 cert in computing and they supply course notes for Office 2003 and 2007. Nowhere do I see course notes for Open Office.

The original poster wanted Office 2003 so why suggest alternatives?
