831016 2009-11-17 06:15:00 It was around 7:07 p.m. 17/11/2009

Santa just finished having Spaghetti and Bacon.

He sat down and smiled at his HD4850 through his computer case because he can.....see through things =).

DEN SANT@ GOT MAD#@!

Santa saw a Dirt 2 video that made him realize that the Dual Core he was getting for christmas wouldn't help him render DirectX 11.

Those polygons... PLEASE someone tell me DirectX 11 is all **** and that all that stuff can be done in DirectX 10 =S.

831017 2009-11-17 07:02:00 Sorry, Reposted in general CaptainVincent (76)
831018 2009-11-17 07:02:00 Calm down.
Tell me what game you own that requires DX11.

831019 2009-11-17 07:22:00 DX11 is marginally better, I've seen pictures where circles are rendered as circles, not octa, deca or hectadecagons. But like PCTek says, calm down, it's the fun in the game that matters not minute details.

Having said that, it's your hardware that's important at the end of the day, DX is just software. A laptop running vista and 1GB of RAM isn't going to have you n00bpwning any time soon.

Stop sig'ing me =), Look at my first post =)

Dual Core + 4850 = Could be n00bpwning = no directx 11

831021 2009-11-17 21:08:00 I am WAY not impressed with this demo, the wire frames are less on DX10 and more on DX11? So add more wire frames on 10! lol, I mean come on! . This is not a demonstration of the DX10,DX11 API difference . To me DX10 is Nerfed for effect .

I remember Crysis being bantered around in the early days of DX10, we soon all learned DX9 effects was somewhat Nerfed and with simple ini edits DX9 could be made to look very close to Vista running DX10 .

DX11 does not specifically add more eye candy, it has more efficient API meaning the performance is better, and therefore you "may" be able to add more eye candy while remaining at a smooth Frame rate . This video is bordering on a con and it seems people are lapping it up .

831022 2009-11-18 07:04:00 I wouldn't worry about it too much.... they did exactly the same thing with DirectX 10

EDIT: just watched the video, well it's pretty nice that's for sure..

But I'll go with what pctek said, nothing actually requires DX11 yet. In fact, does anything actually require DX10??

831023 2009-11-18 21:20:00 Tessellation people, Sure all the Radeon cards AND Xbox 360 ATI card can do Tessellation....But the fact is they didn't implement it in DirectX10 and all DirectX10 games can make an easy transition to DirectX11. So basically HD2000+ with tessellation can't even use this! CaptainVincent (76)
831024 2009-11-18 22:01:00 Until I buy a video card that supports DirectX 11 I officially don't care  Agent_24 (57)
831025 2009-11-19 20:13:00 Well there are a handful of confirmed DX11 games, a couple of them not far away, but I suspect its going to be a afterthought with low benefit, a few other games are rumored to be DX11, but none are DX11 only.

DX11 Games

Dirt 2
STALKER: Call of Pripyat
Alien vs Predator
Crysis 2
Battleforge
