| 717699 | 2008-11-05 09:26:00 | 1. Fallout 3:I am really happy and looking forward to play this game all the reviews on the internet say its great. 2. It's made by Bethesida so of course it's going to be real good going on their past games:Morrowind,Oblivion and their respective expansion packs. 3. So its payday yeah!!!After work I go and buy Fallout 3 Collectors Edition for $150 ouch, but its going to be a great game right!!!? 4. Open it all up put the dvd disk in,it installs all good,go to play the game....and it does not work!!! 5. It comes up with:Conflict with Emulation Software detected and a link to click on for further more detailed information which does not work !@#$%^&*.-(I dont have any Emulation Software).!@#$%^&* 6. So I go on the net and find out it has SecuRom v.7.36 what the !@#$%^&* 7.From Wikiprdia:SecuROM is a CD/DVD copy protection product, most often used for computer games running under Microsoft Windows, developed by Sony DADC. The use of SecuROM is highly controversial because certain aspects of the protection are similar to functions of malware, and users are not always informed when SecuROM is included with a product.A class action suit has been filed against Electronic Arts for this very issue. In an interview, Bethesda assured the public that they would not be utilising any remote-activation DRM for Fallout 3 but merely the basic disc checking version. However, shortly after the release customers discovered that this was not true, and instead the game contains a version of SecuROM v7.36 which checks for the disc as previously stated but also has an invasive kernel-mode driver which checks for commonly used CD/DVD writing software on the system; if detected, the installation is aborted. The version sold on Steam does not have this restriction. To say I am  is putting it nicely.I am a good consumer I buy my games,I do not pirate them!!!:mad:And now they treat me like this after spending $150.00 on a game that should work on my computer and yes everthing is up to date and meets/betters the minimum and reccommened spec's. I find out that the pirates have removed the DRM and can play Fallout 3 happly with no worries, now why am I wasting my money when they can do this and I cant? I have spent many thousand's of dollars on games and computers to be able to play them well, for them to do this to me. Oh yeah and because I have opened the packageing to be able to play the !@#$%^&* you cant take it back to the shop because you might of copied it and be a pirate etc. and your the bad guy after paying for it!@#$%^&* I will not buy any more games now because of this. Rant's over I just had to get this of my chest I feel cheated and used after wasting my $150.00!!! for nothing. I can only do one thing to get back my $150.00. Way to go computer gameing industry you really know how to loose customers. | 717703 | 2008-11-05 10:25:00 | $50 and I'll take it off your hands, I'll even let you know how much I enjoy it. I have three ideas at the moment: 1. Wait a while and see if there is a way to fix this first. 2. Getting drunk listening to some angry music and burning it along with all its merchandise!!! or 3. Sell it on Trademe!!! At the moment I feel like option 2 as I am drinking right now,.... so I am half way there!!!:banana I might burn it on the weekend...or.... |

What CD/DVD writing software have you got on your computer?? Have you tried uninstalling the CD/DVD writing software & re running / reinstalling the game?? |

| 717705 | 2008-11-05 13:35:00 | What CD/DVD writing software have you got on your computer?? Have you tried uninstalling the CD/DVD writing software & re running / reinstalling the game?? I have CDBurnerXP.And I also have Nero that came with my dvd writer/burner for making copies of music cd's that I have bought from the Warehouse so I can keep the original cd at home and have the copy cd disk for the car in case they or the car gets stolen. Ok I have uninstalled these programes and still the game wont work!!! I think I might have to reformat/wipe my harddrive and have NO cd/dvd back up software at all on MY computer to be able to play a game!!! I object to that, it is against my freedom and my rights!!! If I have any that is!!! This is just plain bull****!!! |

| 717706 | 2008-11-05 17:18:00 | Buy from EB Games - 7 day return policy. But I wouldn't worry - about 5000 highly experieced code hacks will be working on a fix (crack...) at this very moment. |

| 717707 | 2008-11-05 20:01:00 | Usually the copy protection picks up things like Daemon Tools or Alcohol. If you don't have either of those installed, get the nocd and send the publisher an email saying why you've used it. | autechre (266) | ||

Securom is a really lame copy protection. You want something to whinge about then try Starforce. Get rid of Daemon Tools and it will stop complaining. |
