716028 2008-10-30 08:31:00 So my father had the bright idea to lubricate and prevent rust on our two reclining chairs with CRC. Inside the house. Understandably, the house is cursed with the sickening smell.

We've got HRV and it does jack all even at full fan speed for 4 hours. Is there anything we could do?

716029 2008-10-30 08:39:00 I take it the chairs are now out in the garage (or similar) and not still in the house? Jen (38)

Still in the house.

Why? Is it THAT poisonous?

Not poisonous - just smelly!

716035 2008-10-30 08:57:00 It'll go away in a few days by itself. In the future tell him to use silicone spray instead of CRC. somebody (208)
716036 2008-10-30 09:00:00 Still in the house.

Why? Is it THAT poisonous? No, but that is why your house still stinks of CRC.

Let the chairs air outside for a few hours tomorrow and make sure you clean off any excess CRC.

The smell will go away eventually.

716037 2008-10-30 09:00:00 Air freshener - and make sure there is no CRC on the carpet or floor - the smell shouldn't hang around for long unless something is holding it.

With the HRV, turn on full or burnt toast mode as they call it and open the windows / Doors, give some easy way out - we had to do that a few weeks back when doing some painting :waughh:, free highhhhhh - cleared most of the stink out in about 2 hours.
