717781 2008-11-06 06:32:00 Seriously you couldnt use a shotgun for executing crooks. Even depending on the type of shot between solid slug/00(buckshot) to around 7 bird shot it would be untidy at least. I think execution should be humane even if the crook wasnt humane in his crime. The only real way to do it with firearms is to fire a lot of rifle bullets at the same time.
5.56 Nato round would be a no no. Remember army guy at Waioruru hit a burst of 5.56mm from mg survived.
If it was me getting shot I would request 308'" (7.62mm) with sporting soft nose bullet
Couldn't care less whether or not callous criminals suffer torturous or quick deaths, as long as they're dead.

Torturous is highly preferred, however.

Revenge is in human nature and denying human nature is political correctness. Don't give me **** about revenge being horrid. Give it to victimised families and see how they react.

717782 2008-11-06 06:52:00 By clean, you mean give them absolute power, right?
I'm right behind that.
Correct. Obviously we don't want a maniac bent on elminating an entire race based on nothing but their nationality and race.

Totally agree.

How about a system where the victim (or victims family) is allowed to extract whatever form of punishment they deem fit on the convicted?

How about the entire country form a circle, all armed with pistols.

We hold them to each others heads and count. 3...2...1...

Sounds like something you could get behind. Myself, I might emigrate if that's OK with you guys.

While this would be immensely entertaining to watch it would be rather pointless. :o

717785 2008-11-06 07:58:00 Nope, I'd let someone else do it.

Why would you let someone else do it? Surely the strength of your convictions would help you?

717786 2008-11-06 08:06:00 I'd make the parents pay for the sins of the child, starting with the petty crimes performed by children like tagging and vandalism when they should be at home.

And whatever system you put in place of the one that already exists would produce it's own inequities and negative outcomes. Society is a complex system. By comparison, the law is a set of rules attempting to forsee every possible situation - but it is basically inert. Put these two things together and they just don't mix. If you make the rules even simpler then you are making the hammer head even bigger.

At least the system we have has evolved into what it is - not hatched in the minds of people who think there is a simple solution for every complex societal problem.

717787 2008-11-06 08:13:00 The system we have is flawed simply because too many factors are taken into account. Metla (12)

And with this bigger hammer head, we can more easily stomp out crime when needed. Thanks

717789 2008-11-06 08:27:00 The problem we have is feeble judges and even worse pinko liberals which have caused a reduction in punishment over the years. The pendulum will swing the other way and the pinkos wont stop us from one day getting punishment appropriate for the crime.
In the old days even horse theft was punished with a jolly good hanging.

It has evolved into a state of ****.

Whats so complex about taking a repeat murderer or rapist out of the picture??

The only problem is the all the people who think its ok to keep these scum types around.
