Like it or not, repeat rapists are human beings and no matter how they act this fact remains unchanged. No rapist's brutality excuses your brutality - or anybody elses. Our entire system of criminal law is based on avoiding a revenge mentality pervading society. Society as a whole has risen above responding to brutality with brutality - have you? I haven't studied the statistics of crime back in Roman times, but I would place a fairly large wager on the fact that the crime rates would have been lower than what they are today here in NZ. Your imaginary facts aren't much help with your imaginary idea to solve crime. Brutal punishment has been handed down to criminals in every society for all of history - hanging, drawing, quartering, garotting, dismembering, burning alive, boiling to death - the list goes on. And there has always been crime. |
