I then brought to her attention that the washing machine was already covered by both the CGA and the makers own warranty. Her reply to that was that the CGA only covered the washing machine up to it being found fualty at time of delivery to our house and the washing machine itself already had a 2 year warranty on it. While I was waiting for her to finish the paper work on our purchase, a elderly gent bought himself one of those $29 dollar bedside radio's, they sold him I think another 2 years of warranty which cost more than the radio itself cost. Only reason we didn't walk away from the purchase and go else where was it was 50% sale and we really needed a washing machine. A lot may depend on the retailer. I bought a car stereo for my wife and that was almost 2 years out of warranty when it just died, a phone call to the retailer and they said, come on in and they replaced it with a new model, no cost difference, they even did all the work to take the old one out and put in the new one. Our Microwave started playing up, out of warranty by only a couple of months, replaced with no questions asked. No extended warranty applied to either product. Only time I ever had a extended warranty was when I bought my first car, didn't know better all those years ago, when I went to claim under the extended warranty, even though the small print said that fault was covered, nothing but excuses and passing the buck, in the end, was quicker to fix it myself. |

But I appreciated it was unnecessary at the time, but I had vouchers and the Bravia 40 inch ended up costing $500 for a $2400 set. | Twelvevolts (5457) | ||
