| 832041 | 2009-11-21 02:14:00 | Hi everyone, I looking for some help on this, I have 2x PC and 2x LCD monitor (support DVI) (2x keyboard/mouse) but was wondering if theres some sort of switch box or switch cable that will allow me to to link the 2 LCD to one computer (as like dual screen) and with a switch I can separate the two LCD back to 2x PC and 2x LCD instead of physically changing over the DVI cable from the graphics card? I'm not worried about the keyboards or anything as I want them separate to each computer. Just looking to link the monitors two one PC and if I need to use the 2nd computer I can just switch the 2nd monitor over instead of unplugging cables. Any info would be great, Kind Regards, Win |

Edit: or you could use the DVI ports from the monitors into one PC and the VGA ports into the other, then just press a button on the screen to change DVI to VGA input - but you'll still need two keyboards/mice. |

Oh I didnt know you could have DVI and VGA linked at same time to two different computers. Do you think this is a better option? Could you explain more on it please kind of new to dual screen. Thanks for reply Kind regards Win |

Each input (DVI/VGA) can be connected and used as if it was a different monitor - hence you have 4 inputs - two for each PC. All monitors (what brand/model of screen do you have?) have a button or sequence of presses to change which input the monitor is looking at for a signal. What you could do - is use the two in conjunction (and use just 1 keyboard/mouse). PC1 - Connects to Monitor1 via KVM (DVI Input) PC2 - Connects to Monitor1 via KVM (DVI Input) Note: VGA port is unused PC1 - Connects to Monitor2 *directly* (DVI Input) PC2 - Connects to Monitor2 *directly* (VGA Input) When you want to switch PCs now, press the keystroke to change. This will change it on Monitor1. This will switch the KB/Mouse over to the other PC as well. Then press the Change Input button on the second monitor. Note that VGA produces a much lower quality picture than DVI. |
