831598 2009-11-19 09:23:00 Hi all - I send out a club newsletter in .pdf format (I do the original in Publisher then convert the file into pdf to send by email). One particular member 'can't' open the file. At the last meeting I recommended he download Foxit Reader, which he has done. He now tells me he STILL can't open the file.

What are the likely reasons? I asked what his OS is - he thinks it is Window...

Other than going to his house to look at the system/machine - is there anything else I could do to help him solve the present problem?:crying

Thanks for you help - as always! :)

831600 2009-11-19 10:07:00 If the PDF file is available online, you can use Google Docs to view it in your browser using the following link:

docs.google.com/viewer?url=<Insert URL to file> (docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdfs/pdfaccess.pdf)

Just replace <Insert URL to file> with the URL to the PDF and you've got a quick and easy PDF viewer in your browser without installing any extra software.

As far as desktop software goes though, I usually recommend Sumatra PDF (blog.kowalczyk.info), which went version 1.0 a couple of days ago. Not sure if it'll help though, sounds like he might have software issues.

831601 2009-11-19 10:52:00 He probably has the file format association wrong but as usual I can't tell from here. Sweep (90)

I used to use Sumatra but found it couldn't open PDF's from air NZ so changed to Foxit

And so it was - although he downloaded Foxit as I suggested, he hadn't installed ...:crying

Problem sorted for the moment. :clap
