| 1446895 | 2018-03-01 00:37:00 | Hey guys My old microwave browning dish has been rendered unusable. Had the thing for about 10 years, and yesterday I preheated it in the microwave as usual but this time leaving a plastic cover sitting on it. Long story short, the cover is melted almost beyond recognition, now permanently bonded to the dish, and both are on their way to oblivion in a landfill. I would really like to replace it, but can't find any outlets or manufacturers here. Briscoes, usually good for such items tried to sell me a microwave-safe dish, and didn't know what a browning dish was. Corningware make reference there is such an item they used to manufacture, but the trail ends there, they don't even know if such an item is even made let alone retailed. There is one for sale on Trademe, but the seller won't take any responsibility for safe delivery which is not acceptable for a glass item not professionally packed. Does anyone know where I might buy such a thing? |

But: www.ebay.com www.trademe.co.nz Ah see, you didn't like the TM one...but googling bought up plenty of places other than ebay, amazon for instance. Ebay is probably cheapest though. |

I'm a daily bacon and omelet fiend, and the browning dish is superb for 3 minute perfectly cooked bacon. No spatter, no turning over, no draining ... So don't knock cooking in the microwave - at least for this, you can't beat it ... Mmmmmmmmm | WalOne (4202) | ||

"boiled" for many hours in a plastic bag ... a three inch thick steak done to the same perfect doneness, tenderness and colour throughout. Kept at the same temperature without any deterioration or overcooking for many more hours. Don't knock it, many top restaurants use the method. That superb may have been "cooking" for 10 - 12 hours! Don't think steak and eggs and chips fare, think Michelin star offerings. And when I insinuate boil in bag, I'm facetious - but that's almost what suos vide cooking is. Yes it's a method of "cooking" that essentially precisely controls temperature. The only thing I'll concede is that the finishing touch does require a blow torch for a second or two. I boast both a sous vide cooker - and a blow torch :) Oh, and shortly joining my kitchen arsenal will be a new microwave browning dish thanks to you guys. |

BBQ steaks - don't seem to suit older folk, young kids; seems to be for middle aged kiwi men, Islanders (burnt pork/chicken), big beer gulpers, from the many I have done over the years.
