1445846 2018-02-02 03:54:00 Driving down Auckland's Southern Motorway, just south of the Newmarket Viaduct, there is a sign on the side of a building proclaiming "Remuera Rackets Club." With tennis courts alongside the building, it's obvious what they do, so why can't they spell it correctly? They're not there to make a noise so you'd think that coming from Remuera they'd be better educated than that - but it seems not. I don't think I'd want to belong to a club that can't spell their name right.:( Roscoe (6288)
1445847 2018-02-02 04:21:00 It could be correct though, most rich pricks are thinly disguised criminals.
So they are all involved in rackets, eh!

1445848 2018-02-02 04:43:00 Perfectly valid modern spelling, you are entitled to use racquets if you prefer. Terry Porritt (14)

There's nothing modern about the sign. It's been up there for at least the past 20 years. And the two words have very different meanings so "rackets" is definitely incorrect.

1445850 2018-02-02 05:48:00 20 years is 'modern', rackets is a perfectly correct alternative, look it up, you are being irrationally pedantic.

Just because you're not "rich" doesn't mean you're not a "thinly disguised criminal" prick.

Hope you are getting well Greg, not wasting your energy fighting imaginary battles. :)

I was thinking of the other meaning. A racket can be a noise as well.
