1445438 2018-01-27 03:39:00 I've got a cheap Nvidia 210 videocard here.

It's been good so far (well until the hot weather came along). Friday night it must have overheated because of the heat. It went to 75-80 degrees

And shut this computer down. It's still going now tho, because I'm on it

Even tho I've got a 120mm fan (it's on the side of this case) blowing on it and the CPU, it's still around 55-60. Can you put a fan on it to make it cooler?

The only prob I think is most fans only have 2 pins dont they? Obviously it'll have to have metal on it so it wont get hot or melt

So any ideas what kind of fan I can put on this videocard?

2 pins ?
that may be for audio-in for the HDMI passthrough

Just get a 12v fan & used a spare 12v connector from the PSU.
If lucky , you might be able to screw the fan into the vid card, if the holes line up with the heatsink.
Or wangle a 12v case fan next to it.

Some of the fanless vid cards would get so hot they can damage nearby components on the motherboard .
I'd never buy another fanless vid card after seeing that

1445441 2018-01-27 05:36:00 You can but it may take some modding, any small case fan that you can find a way to attach and power will work, they don't melt in my experience.
Or you can mount a case fan nearby and direct the air flow, that works too.

The ghetto version as practiced by a friends son - take the side off and point a desk fan in there. Not the best around small children and animals though.

1445442 2018-01-27 05:58:00 Have a EVGA 240 that has a Fan which runs at 54/55c in this weather

That must be a recent version www.trademe.co.nz 29a

Could always change the heat sink with this www.trademe.co.nz 29a

Still have 210's/220/240's in my search and this seller has had this for a while

1445444 2018-01-27 17:42:00 I dont think its for HDMI audio. HDMI audio works fine without it. I'm not on trademe. And dont plan to go on it either

I'll check with Ascent, Pbtech, or other. See what they say

A 120mm is blowing on to it. Didnt make a lot of diff. It's still 55-60

1445445 2018-01-27 20:11:00 That fact that you keep mentioning that you're 'blowing onto it' makes me think you are not sure what you should be doing. Extracting heat is better than pushing it back on itself. Very few things dissipating heat ever direct it back to itself.

If you were to blow onto it, before it you would need an evaporator or something that could cool the air and bring the temp down, else you'll be making it worse pushing 55-60 degrees back onto itself.

1445446 2018-01-27 20:42:00 Most sites say in not out for side fans. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1445447 2018-01-27 20:48:00 Side fans blow across/through the heat sink fins, thats fine, its directing the heat away. I'm talking about blowing back onto itself. If you can only mount a fan above it, you should be extracting heat.

Oh, you mean case fans?

Well basically you want to create one exit, so most do everything in from front and side, and out the rear. But thats different for a graphics card, cpu, etc, they pull heat out inside the case and the case fans remove it.
