1444897 2018-01-17 04:38:00 I've just had a very frustrating period trying to resolve an issue with playing the Microsoft Solitaire collection. I've given up on it, but I've become more and more convinced I've been interacting with a chatbot, because of the form of the replies and the fact that the replies seem to ignore pertinent info.

Here's (answers.microsoft.com) the link

I'd be interested in seeing what other people think. You may need to login with a MS account.

All opinions welcome.

P.S. I've just noticed that link goes to page 2, so go back one to get the full juicy flavour.

1444898 2018-01-17 04:57:00 Just tried the Microsoft Solitaire collection, allowed to play as guest, no sign in or Xbox prompts. It "may" be because I'm signed into the store ( on one of my accounts don't know which one its so long ago) ;)

But just a suggestion, no idea if it will work or what it will do.

Open the settings - Apps - Once it populates, scroll down to find Microsoft Solitaire collection. Single click it, the words Advanced Options appear, theres a reset button, it will give you a message - upto you if you click or not. :)

1444899 2018-01-17 05:43:00 Oh god. Win10.

Possibly not a bot but scripted, most of these places are. Q1 - do response 1, Q2 - do response 2.

This isn't a fix but download Pretty Good Solitaire.
It has millions of games, you can pick and choose, you can set up and play a "series" of them. MS Solitaire is just Klondike anyway, theres a heap of Klondike variations in this, and some double, triples and so on as well.

You'll never care about another Solitaire again, I assure you.

I had to ring HP as my printer has a printhead issue.
I got:
Give all details, name, ph, address, CV, DNA, etc etc...

(No - well not all of it anyway)

Go through troubleshooting.
(No)

I said, look I have already done that, that's why I know it s a printhead issue, following YOUR site I tried to find a repair agent (Can do that for the US, not for NZ, it takes me to ring them)

So I'm ringing. Who is the nearest repair agent.

Went round in circles for a bit and he said, no there isn't one. We don't do that for (consumer item).
So need to troubleshoot.

I said, then what, we find it's the printhead, you send one down the phone and I install it via the phone?

He shut up at that point and said a)what did I do B)How did I know it's an issue with this model.

Told him the list of things I did and pointed him to their own site which says it's an issue with this model.

In fact while he was examining that one I gave him a couple more, including the one where they say how to troubleshoot the issue:
1)Reset printer
2)If it hasn't fixed it, contact nearest repair agent.

LOL!! Really thats it? Reset? I did considerably more than that.

Anyway, he came back and said we'll send another one.

What do I do with the old one? Return it?

Nope, throw it in bin. They don't even want to check it...

So annoying at first, they always were, but I'll say the end result when you finally get there is always good.

Unlike MS. Much like their O/S really....

(Sorry couldn't help that bit of sarcasm)

1444900 2018-01-17 18:24:00 I might have mentioned this before and would suggest you might like to add this to your list to consider. Go to Winaero.com and check out their offering for Win 10 games - they were the Win7 games that never saw the light of day when Win 10 came out. Bryan (147)
1444901 2018-01-17 19:02:00 Thanks for the suggestions about alternative games. That is not actually the point of the post. I'm OK with the general nature of the Solitaire collection, just not with the nagging and apparent bug at the beginning.
What I was commenting on is the nature of the interaction with MS help and the apparently mechanical nature of the replies and the apparent inability to answer the questions I asked.

Wainui, I tried doing a reset - made no difference.

1444902 2018-01-18 08:43:00 Wainui, I've found that if I let myself be logged on to Xbox then I don't get further nag screens, but I still have a delay every time I start the games up while it logs me on. If I'm signed out I get the start of the logon and if I close that window I get the "play as guest" with the "don't ask me again" which is always ignored.

What a PTA. Why do they assume everyone wants statistics and sharing and all that crap?
