| 1446905 | 2018-03-02 08:54:00 | I was thinking of that french style water bath cooking as well. BBQ steaks - don't seem to suit older folk, young kids; seems to be for middle aged kiwi men, Islanders (burnt pork/chicken), big beer gulpers, from the many I have done over the years. I think french are more refined cuisine eaters, dunno if they take to half burnt meat.. No but the French eat snails and horses and that is just weird. |

| 1446907 | 2018-03-17 01:59:00 | A follow up to the saga . . . locally I had tried Stevens, Briscoes, and walk in to a couple of upmarket Parnell Rise shops - before going on-line . A couple of sites did offer the product - but for whatever reason would not ship to NZ . I questioned one if they had any way around this (apart from the usual US addresses and NZ Post) . They didn't directly respond, but I did get an email within hours from the manufacturer in Longford, Eire . Payment was made via Paypal on the 7th, and the item arrived at my place on the 14th . The twofold lesson to be learned from this is; 1) know your customer and sell them what they want . That you may not know what it is they're asking you for doesn't cut it . 2) it's difficult to beat 7 days from ordering online to receipt (if you want to be pedantic, only 6 days taking into account the date line) . Add to that the convenience of shopping from your armchair, not having to explain to disinterested shop assistants and local customer "service" representatives what it is you want, then on-line shopping is a no-brainer . |

| 1446908 | 2018-03-17 04:24:00 | My best 'overseas' buy was a lens from B&H in New York. It arrived in five days flat - and I was able to track it across the States - and then it arrived in a big truck at my front door. These days it takes over a week for me to get a letter from the other side of town...NZ Post! | R.M. (561) | ||

I learnt as a self taught interment seller/affiliate content marketer and bulk Trademe seller is indeed to know your audience and to engage with them so as to try meet their needs, wants, and desires - and to find out were they might hangout (social media, forums, auction sites, YouTube, referrals, search engines, etc). All in the goal of converting/achieving your goal(s). Often a sale, or signup, download, etc. Then gently re-market to maintain or increase awareness and any branding to maintain conversions. So...did the seller say or indicate why they would not ship to NZ? Was it on eBay? Longford in UK? I just received a package - like many others from Sheffield, that I ordered from UK on eBay. Some UK sellers for certain items exclude NZ... I wonder if UK/USA seller corner/manipulate the auctions for certain unique/specialist products. I find that many UK and UK eBay sellers list certain Chinese made products (e.g. specialist socket sets) - which invariably include shipping costs. Yet those products are not sold from the Chinese manufacturer's/sellers themselves on eBay. Puzzles me as to why not... |

What?! For one thing, there are people who can cook properly on a BBQ. It's not about flames at all. Or burnt anything. Not sure how age comes into it. Husband likes steak, albeit fillet. he is 70. I never have much. About the only time I ever eat it is : BBQ (properly) on a piece of bread with onions and sauce. I'd rather have BBQ chicken, again cooked properly, right through, no burnt bits at all. I'd also rather have a stew or pasta too. But there you go...different preferences. I imagine half sloshed pacific island middle aged men don't much care, they're too busy with the liquids..... Middle-aged pacific island men like my sons friend though, who don't drink and are into their fitness, do also have BBQs occasionally, and french meals also sometimes. Shock, horror, cooked by themselves too sometimes. |

I wonder if UK/USA seller corner/manipulate the auctions for certain unique/specialist products. I find that many UK and UK eBay sellers list certain Chinese made products (e.g. specialist socket sets) - which invariably include shipping costs.. I originally found the item on eBay from a USA vendor and it was that vendor who said they would not ship to to NZ but no reason was given. I assumed this was the reluctance of many US vendors to do business with anybody offshore. Offshore customers are seen by many in the USA as being in the collective insular, fortress America viewpoint as being alien, untrustworthy, dishonest - avoid at all costs - with the current president reinforcing that attitude. In the event, the USA vendor did refer my inquiry to the manufacturer in Longford, Eire - Ireland - and all was smooth sailing from there. Yes, there was first class postage and packaging involved, and the total cost of the item with P&P was 33 Euros, but I knew exactly what I was in for, and got exactly what I wanted, within days. |

Many over 60's ex smokers, druggies, and hard core boozers I have come across, have shot teeth (or replacement) and gums - don't like chewing. I have served hundreds of people at work functions (both factory workers/senior staff), gang parties (my sister's),kids birthdays, etc in south Auckland. I often smell burnt BBQ's right from my bedroom. Tongans particularity seem to burn their pork/chicken. Yet east side (Bucklands Beach/Howick) where I grew up, and where another sister lives with her quaint Englishman their BBQ's so...gentle, dainty (as it should be I guess), middle-upper clas - lovely wrapped crackers, exotic drinks, dressed salads, etc. Preferences. |
