| 1446388 | 2018-02-17 09:01:00 | Husband was a plumber for a long time. He hates them. He would tell you that yes, it can stop bulky bits going into the spouting, but: The leaves break down, small debris goes through and you end up with a kind of sludge stuck in it, and then you can't clear them because you have this mesh blocking the channel and you can't get at it. He came across many houses like that, people complaining about the usual overflowing spouting, but with the mesh stuff. Like I said, they are not maintenance free, it is horses for courses. The mesh system would not be good for a 2 story house, too difficult to get to, but a single story where you can easily reach the guttering, then a blast along with a hose pipe, or the Gutter Wand inverted U shape water cleaner through the mesh is dead simple, you don't have to remove the mesh at all to clean the gutter. When installing you cut the mesh into short lengths to span a pair of brackets of a Marley plastic gutter. Easy to fit under a corrugated roof and bend into an upward curve to fit tightly into the groove shape (that the Marley "Classic" shape has.) Worked ok for me, but admit each of the 3 gutters I fitted are just straight runs. Just walk along the side of the house and blast the fine stuff along to the downpipe. Of course if that is never done then look out for trouble. They brought it on themselves. Edit: Watch out for overhead power lines :) |

You hose all the crud away It comes with a fitting for your downpipe that you open to catch all the crud when doing this cleaning . Not sure how well it would work , seems safer than crawling about on the edge of the roof . www.mitre10.co.nz www.mitre10.co.nz |
