A mass shooting at a US church was stopped by a local citizen with a hand gun . |

There are so many Guns in the US , any law change could take decades to have any effect . There are no good reasons (except fun) to have .50 sniper rifles and machine Guns, but they are allowed in some states . |

It's just what they do in Yankee Land. Now if they were to report that there were no mass shootings in Yankee Land today - that would be news, and worth reporting. I dont think the Americans can do much about the shooting just grin and bare it like auto accidents. The right to bare arms is not going to go, how much anyone wrings their hands. Maybe try and limit magazine capacity to say 10 but that wont fly either. In NZ someone could mow down tens of people with a legal 303 jungle carbine 10 shot mag using 5 shot stripper clips. In NZ just like you have to trust the person on the road coming towards you isn't going to commit sideways and crash into on purpose you are going to have hope our gun license holders dont flip out. We have a horrible history in NZ of shooters going amok even with the most draconian gun laws in the world. It makes the news while more are people killed by drunk drivers, NATO standard murder does not make the headlines. People have to get real and accept life has its risks wether its driving a car, skiing or a shooter flips. If your number is up your number is up. |

We were all born into this world in a state of nudity and it is our God-given right to continue to do so. :lol: Seriously, Prefect raises some good points that I agree with. My Dad was shot in an armed holdup and at point blank range with a sawn-off shotgun in the 70s. I have experienced such trauma first hand. At the time it was afforded maximum shock horror status and my elder sister still tries to dine out on it. These days, it would scarcely rate a mention in our media. |
