1485731 2022-04-21 06:14:00 Hello I got the k401U from my sister who got it in late 2017 and never used it.
The battery is dead but it powers up ok and I updated it.
But it keeps losing the wifi every 10 minutes or so. Switching wifi on and off on the desktop enables it again but it happens again.
Drivers are updated.
I tried the setting to not allow wifi to "sleep"
All other devices here work fine, it's just this.
We have the vodafone "wall to wall" internet.

1485732 2022-04-21 07:13:00 Try moving the laptop to a different physical position in the house, see if it still drops out, culprits would be microwave ovens, taxis on road, any source of radio waves at particular frequencies interfering. zqwerty (97)
1485733 2022-04-21 07:32:00 Sleep wont do much. Try setting teh Adapter to not turn off to save power.

( copied cause I cant be bothered writing it all out :p) )

a. Open device manager from Start menu.

b. Expand network adapters.

c. Right click on the wireless network adapter component and click on properties.

d. Switch to the Power Management tab.

e. Click to clear "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

f. Save changes and then close device manager.

1485734 2022-04-21 08:44:00 No I'd done that. It's being used away from interference wooda2 (4837)
1485735 2022-04-21 11:05:00 Could be faulty drivers. Saying they are upto date means nothing really, just means if they are at fault they are faulty updates. Keeping the original drivers ( if faulty) and updating means the problem is still there.

What you can try is completely removing the connection & Drivers, From device manager and reinstalling fresh drivers. Since going by the date 2017 it should be Windows 10, which BTW is that fully updated ?? It should be 21H2 (19044.1645)

Possibly the Scan Valid Interval is also incorrect -- have a read ttcshelbyville.wordpress.com

1485736 2022-04-21 11:57:00 Does it have a toggle switch to turn off wifi manually, if so check that the switch still works in a positive way and is switched completely to wifi ON.

There should be an indicator light which you can see going on and off on the desktop or a LED on the laptop somewhere as you toggle the switch.
