1484895 2022-03-12 03:18:00 Hi All
Is anyone here who has reasonably good idea about laptops capabilities and suitable monitor.
This is the laptop we have:
HP Probook 445 G8 Business Laptop 14" FHD 400nits AMD Ryzen5 5600U 16GB 512GB NVMe SSD

The monitor we were thinking:

Do you guys think the monitor would suit or is the laptop's graphics not up to it?
Any suggestions/comments?
Thanks

1484896 2022-03-13 03:36:00 That monitor is overkill for the iGPU, the recommended resolution is 1600x900, spending that kind of money on a 1440p monitor with a 75Hz refresh rate on the Vega7 architecture is for lack of a better word a waste.

I would suggest you look into a 24" 1920x1080p monitor @ 75Hz instead. Avoid a larger panel size at 1080p as this will look slight grainy because of the pixel density. Don't get a panel that is bigger than 24-24.5".

Nice monitor but you need to run it in it's native resolution or it looks yuk.

I suspected that this might be the case. A 24" monitor is not bad either.
Your comment is very much appreciated.

1484899 2022-03-13 18:16:00 Depends what you want to do on it, if it's for gaming then the APU will not handle the resolution well, but for most other tasks it should work fine.

I Also have never had any issues with larger monitors at 1080P, I have a 27" @ 1080P and a 32" ultrawide @ 2560 x 1080. Some people seem to find the very suggestion horrible, and sure they aren't as sharp and crisp up close as smaller monitors or higher res ones, but they are perfectly fine from a couple of feet away where I tend to sit. I also use my 1080P 60" plasma TV as a monitor from across the room and it's fine.

I made a conscious choice when I bought these monitors to stick to lower resolutions so I didn't need a high end GPU to game on them. I do intend to go for a higher resolution next time, probably QHD like the one you linked as 4K still pushes the hardware a bit much for my liking
