1486814 2022-06-12 23:02:00 Find out from the UK supplier if the make the sale sales tax free or not. If they don't you'll be paying double GST . The UK one and NZ one.

This is the type of issue I was concerned about.

1486816 2022-06-12 23:12:00 "If you buy goods valued over $1000, you'll have to pay duty and GST when the goods arrive in NZ. The Import Entry Transaction Fee (IETF) and the Biosecurity System Entry Levy (BSEL) have not been included in this estimation"

"As your shipment is over $1000, you will need a client code. If you don't have one already fill in the NZCS 224 form"

Please let us know how you get on & what you paid in fees & duties etc, if you go ahead
I'd be interested in how easy/hard it was
:-)

We've gone in a full circle.
This is the very reason I asked the question in the first place.

1486818 2022-06-13 00:43:00 Avoid all these problems by buying an item that costs $999. zqwerty (97)
1486819 2022-06-13 05:00:00 Ok the jury has returned a verdict.
I've canned the idea.

Thanks for the input team.

.

Why? All you had to do was ring them and ask exactly what you need to do.
The shop isn't going to charge you more than what was quoted anyway, the only extra bit is this end.

1486821 2022-06-17 23:22:00 Some time ago they introduced the internet dubbed Amazon tax . So big companies have to charge you 15% GST generally for items less than $1,000 like eBay, Aliexpress etc . They forward to the NZ govt .

For other stores that don't do significant business with NZders they don't have to register and therefore don't have to charge you mandatory GST . However all items that is $1,000NZ or over may get stopped at the border and NZ Customs would contact you to pay whatever charges . If you used an express courier like Fedex or DHL they can contact you when it is still in transit to seek payment to expediate the process than letting it sit at Auckland Airport waiting for payment before release . If it is $1,000 or more there could be other charges too like duties and and custom fees depending on your item .

1486822 2022-06-18 04:32:00 Yes a bit too open ended for my liking.
I wouldn't know the total cost until after the initial purchase.
