1485440 2022-04-09 00:20:00 I am now using Office 2019. When I look at files created in 2007, the office 2019 converts each and every file singularly from 2007 to 2019. This takes time and I have a large number of files (ending .doc). I have read how to change every file individually if I so want to do. However, as there are so many, is there a way to do a mass change or am I stuck? Bryan (147)
1485441 2022-04-09 03:39:00 Just tried what was written on this site: (method 2 .doc to .docx) you want method 1 www.datanumen.com (www.datanumen.com x%20for%20file%20type%20accordingly.)

Scroll to top of page if it doesn't load correctly.

The key things are.

Make a backup - copy of all the files you want 1st in case it all turns to custard and doesn't work then you wont lose anything.
In the Script, where it says E:\Temp, MAKE SURE you change the location to the actual location ( FULL Path) of your folder containing the .doc files.
Re READ 1st point and make sure you have.

On doing the test I converted 247 .docx files to .doc in about 3 seconds

1485442 2022-04-09 04:59:00 Thank you very much for that. However, one other thing, when I open a file with either .doc or .docx my Office 2019 seems to activate "Office 2007 configuration" and it takes a minute to complete the action. Office 2019 I believe I added overtop of 2007 and then I removed 2007, would this be the problem? I have no way of restoring 2007. Would it be best to backup the disk, remove 2019 and then reinstall? Would that correct the need to have the system configure the file? Bryan (147)

Seen that several times, what happens is the Newer version some times uses older files ( in simple terms) so normally I'll fully uninstall the previous version, but that can also cause problems with the new so requires reinstalling the new (again).

But give this a try -- the 1st reply in Answers with 77. No Idea if it will work or not.
