Looks like a great result overall.

718684 2008-11-08 18:38:00 It's good that Winston Peters is gone - a bit of a surprise as he's the sort that would survive a nuclear war... Deane F (8204)
718685 2008-11-08 19:07:00 Most would like to be in his position,a pension to die for and free or virtually free travel around the world.
It will be interesting to see how he waffles his way around his new position.

He has to be the king of garble.

718687 2008-11-08 20:40:00 He may not have been the most honest politician, but he was definitely the most entertaining.

Like Jenny Shipley said on TV1, he could have been prime minister at one point. And under the supervision of one of the major parties I don't think that would have been such a bad thing.

718689 2008-11-08 21:36:00 Even better news is the dreaded Ms Hobb will no longer be in parliament. Thomas01 (317)

718691 2008-11-08 21:52:00 Well Cicero, I hope you have given thanks to your saviour. Sue Bradford single-handedly got more votes for National than any three other candidates ;)
I promise not to say "I told you so" about election promises as genuinely as those other promises were made. ;)

718692 2008-11-08 22:02:00 Could be wrong because I don't go around asking people who, how or why they chose to vote the way they did. I think the weird letter Tauranga voters received from Winston during the week may have been the final nail in his coffin for many who read it. Along with all the other political propaganda that arrived, mine was consigned to file 13.

Cheers,
Marnie
