| 833597 | 2009-11-25 20:50:00 | Hi, I just sold my old computer on TradeMe and the person who has bought it says that when she turns it on, it boots up ok but then her monitor goes black. It shows "Acer" then "No Signal input" on the screen and then nothing. She waits and waits and waits, but still no go. Her monitor is an Acer 17" LCD. She is in Rotorua and I am in Taupo. So that makes it difficult to know what is going on. Any ideas or suggestions? LL |

Pull it right out then plug it back in again, rather than just pressing down on it. If it's onboard video, then that's another matter entirely, and it may be that the LCD is set to take input from the wrong source? Edit: Wait a second "It boots up OK" so they see something on-screen at first? If that's the case then try rebooting into safe mode and set the resolution lower to like 1024x768 or 800x600 :) |

| 833602 | 2009-11-25 21:23:00 | Did the PC have a graphics card? If so was the onboard graphics turned off? The computer has a Saphire ATI Raedon 3850 card, so yes the onboard is switched off. She cannot boot to safe mode, in fact she didn't know what that was. As I said, She is in Rotorua and I am in Taupo so she just may have to get someone to look at it. She is going to try her sister's monitor on it later on today. When she gets back to me tonight, I will suggest that she gets someone to check the card is seated properly, it traveled to Rotorua by car. Thanks for those suggestions guys. LL |

The monitor showed It shows "Acer" then "No Signal input" on the screen and then nothing. This would indicate the computer tries to boot and the monitor does show something initially. |
