| 833439 | 2009-11-25 04:52:00 | Hi have tried all the fixes to get ethernet connection to work on a Xp machine and now considering getting a new network card.Will this more than likely fix the discconecting/unplugged cable problem. Thanks for any advice. |

| 833441 | 2009-11-25 05:16:00 | Assuming you've checked for correct drivers, and have removed, cleaned and re-seated the network card, please consider the option of a faulty cable, or a bad connection at the other end of the cable being the issue before you spend money on another card. The other question is whether your existing hardware can cope with a regualr cable, or needs a cross-over (patch) cable. I forget the current jargon for these different cable categories. |

What about firewalls / proxies?? Is it enabled in the BIOS?? Are the LED's flashing on the NIC?? Does it show in device manager / Does it say its working in device manager?
