This is just a wind up by Z. The old school British union philosophy died here with the scum Tom Skinner and the arrival of Maggie T.
No longer do we hear English accents from union leaders when sectors were going to go on strike.
No more out brothers etc, The socialist dream died, just a few numbnuts hanging on by their finger nails.

Never been any kiwi union activists?

I have a bottle reserved for celebrating that old witch's demise.

718764 2008-11-16 02:06:00 Maggie T should be the proudest human on earth she broke the scum unionists once and for all.
I will raise a glass to her when she clocks out. I dont know who I admire the most Winston Churchill or her I think its a tie.

718765 2008-11-16 03:18:00 I view service providers such as accountants and lawyers as a necessary evil, not quite parasitic but getting their/there haha.

This confirms my previous point. Purely a wind-up with a misplaced ideology and maybe an over-active imagination. I would love to see you say 'service providers don't provide any real benefit to the country' to : nurses, doctors, tourism operators, teachers, your local constable/rubbish collector/tax inspector, or even a judge. Or why not just insult all of the self-employed IT contractors on this forum, or any self-employed person for that matter? I invite you to say that to your family lawyer/accountant next time you need legal advice or assistance with an IRD audit. thanks for the laugh...

718767 2008-11-16 04:28:00 We need a few less burger flippers and hairdressers and a lot more production of real physical goods.

It is going to be interesting to see how free market zealots are going to solve the coming crisis in NZ without a lot more government intervention.

So you'd have us all working in factories (for the regulation 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, no shops open Sunday and only 9 - 12 on a Saturday, maybe a late night either Thursday or Friday), churning out chairs and tables and crockery and other miscellaneous bits and bobs?

Then when we aren't working we either have to race into the shops (staffed by second-rate citizens because, of course, they aren't actually producing anything) in those odd opening hours to buy those chairs and tables and crockery and other miscellaneous bits and bobs.

No restaurants, no movies, (because those things are "frivolous") no spending money on anything but the necessities of life.

What a boring existence that would be...

718772 2008-11-16 08:45:00 Put that way johcar it does sound a boring future, luckily your and my future is now in National's hands and they will be moving us all into a bright new one where we are all working productively towards some bright new right wing utopia with john key at the helm.

Hallelujah.
