718858 2008-11-09 19:46:00 Interesting how much ruder and more insulting the people who voted for national are Interesting observation there -:) wainuitech (129)
718859 2008-11-09 20:12:00 Yes I woke up this morning with a great sense of relief and optimism. (i went to bed feeling good too)

That we have got rid of Nanny Helen, and that smarmy Cullen, those damn interfeering greens and we now have a change to give business a go and we have a leader who is proud to be a New Zealander and wants New Zealand to do well.

I think if after 3 yrs things are getting better, or have gotten better then they prob would, but if the country is in worse state / gone backwards or no signs of any improvement then that may be a different story.

Only time will tell.

718862 2008-11-09 20:35:00 That's not a very powerful example of socialism or Helengradism, rather paltry I'd say :)

Now if Labour in 1999 had re-nationalised the electricity industry (following Max Bradfords complete cock-up) according to the principles of "common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange" , then I would call that a dose of socialism .

They made enough noise about the fiasco prior to the election, and they could have done it easily at that time, but they chickened out .

Far less difficult than the repeated nationalisation - denationalisation of the British steel industry we saw during 40s/60s/70s as Labour alternated with the Conservatives .

718863 2008-11-09 20:35:00 Did a test about 3 weeks ago. 2 showers in the house. 13 litres per minute each. Beautiful! Only takes 5-6 minutes. Before you get on your high horse and tell me how un green I am, I catch all my rainwater in underground tanks,90,000 litres and I will use it how and when I want. Some of it gets used in my eco friendly septic tank system which after treatment then waters my gardens I will also read the paper and books tonight with bright light bulbs that dont contain mercury, and I did not need some Government fool telling me to plant the 6,000 odd trees I have planted over the last 23 years. Thank God Labour and those looney Greens will have little say in the new Government.

718864 2008-11-09 22:06:00 More unemployment when they reduce the number of public servants and people working for the DHBs.
:)

Like there is no unemployment now??
Also nice comments about how much of a fail its going to be (not you Trev) after only a couple of days. Who knows, things may get better..... unless you can see into the future.

Fact: National is in.
Get used to it.

There will never be "no unemployment" as such .

I remember hearing a statement on radio when I worked in London . "There will never be zero unemployment in Britain since around 10% of the current workforce is involved in Employment Agencies, Head Hunters, dealing with Unemployed etc . If there was zero unemployment then those 10% would be no longer required thus be out of work . "

718867 2008-11-09 23:44:00 I find it difficult to understand how the Greens (riddled with lefties and fellow travellers) got more votes and MPs when the swing was away from perceived socialism.

An acid test for National will be if they repeal the Greenie inspired legislation like banning conventional light bulbs. That could be done quite easily almost immediately by the stroke of a pen.
