Excuse the syntax.

I like being elliptical and leaving it to the reader to deduce the meaning :)

Putting it bluntly, talk of 'Helengrad' and the like is just plain nonsense.
The fact is the last labour government was quite right wing by all commonsense standards, and previous history, both here and in the UK.

Of course I don't include your friends Rodney and Roger in those common sense standards :)

Quite right,they are above it.

Clark and co have increased the civil servant, the hospitals are full of them and no doubt other depts.
I grant you it is hard to improve these dept's but helen was happy to let it drift on,this is socialist thinking.
I hope this new lot can get things running much better, with there new brush.

718841 2008-11-09 03:34:00 What is with the people mentioning communist party? They have obviously NEVER been to a country where the country is under communist rule and how badly the people suffer under that regime.

I have driven many bus tours through most of the Eastern Block countries when it was under Communist rule and New Zealand is so far removed from that type of politics. None of our Political parties are anywhere close to Communism.

Thats funny the labour party and the communists had the same song want some more links?

And all your troubles will be gone.

Just for you."

I gather some old fashioned Labour Party stalwarts sing it occasionally for nostalgic or historic reasons, but apparently they embarrass the others when it happens. The Labour Party sold out years ago under Douglas and other idiots like Prebble - They have been more right wing than National for years, which is why National has found it difficult to get any traction over the previous three elections. Helen Clark describes herself as being a social democrat, not even a socialist, let alone a communist. Now she has stood down, and Cullen with her, apparently Goff is the next in line, and he is as dry economically as the inside of a kiln. Looks like Labour will take another lurch to the right. Soon they will be right of Act even.

718844 2008-11-09 03:57:00 When a government tells me how to raise my children/grand children, when a government tells me how much water I will use in the shower, when a government tells me what my children/grand children will eat for lunch, I detect very communistic tenancies.

However, the one field that Heir Helen didn’t show any communistic tenancies was Law & Order. More the pity. :(

I am not sure why you equate the above dubious comments with communism. You clearly have no idea what communism means. It is a lovely irony that you use a Nazi image of fascism (Heir - misspelt by the way) when you are trying to prove that she is a communist! Perhaps you could go to Wikipedia at least and work out the difference between fascism and communism - they are polar opposites.

Oh, and by the way, the current darlings (the tories) also voted for the legislation to stop caregivers relying on an out of date defence to charges of violence against their children. Key even crowed about what a statesman he was to come to that accord with Labour and the Greens. Perhaps you missed that fact?

That's not a very powerful example of socialism or Helengradism, rather paltry I'd say :)

Now if Labour in 1999 had re-nationalised the electricity industry (following Max Bradfords complete cock-up) according to the principles of "common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange" , then I would call that a dose of socialism.

They made enough noise about the fiasco prior to the election, and they could have done it easily at that time, but they chickened out.

Far less difficult than the repeated nationalisation - denationalisation of the British steel industry we saw during 40s/60s/70s as Labour alternated with the Conservatives.

And your point is?

What on earth has a song got to do with it. Spend some time in a Communist country and you will sure learn and see the real difference quickly.

Jeez
