718115 2008-11-06 20:21:00 Slightly off track - but do regularly check your USB stick with your anti-virus programme. Our local club has had a rash of annoying idiotic viruses viruses transported around by USB. Only takes seconds to right click and check. Scouse (83)
718116 2008-11-06 20:27:00 HijackThis is also worth adding :) Renmoo (66)
718117 2008-11-06 20:39:00 What's ESET SysInspector?

ESET SysInspector (www.eset.com)
In a nutshell basically a vastly more advanced version of HJT.

+ 1 for portable apps.

What Antivirus software are you using? Some AV's can be configured to scan removable devices automatically.

718118 2008-11-06 21:49:00 I run a 1GB, 2GB and a 16GB U3 drives.

All have Opera (v9.24 and/or v9.61), FF3, Irfanview, Roboform, and EditpadPro (and now ESET SysInspector!!). The larger one has a few more apps, including the defaults that Sandisk install and some games (which are pretty sucky!).

The 1GB one is the one I use for work - with a network profile size of 30MB, and 'normal' free space of 20MB, it reduces to about 6MB free when I plug in the U3. Which makes it problematic to work on say, large Word or Excel files at the same time, because some of that profile storage is used for Autosaves, so if the document is large I can easily run out of profile space very quickly... The problem is worse if I plug in the 16GB U3 and open a few programs on it.

718120 2008-11-06 23:05:00 Yes I was looking at Moka5 based on your post above. But pricing doesn't seem to be clearly indicated.... johcar (6283)
718121 2008-11-06 23:10:00 Flash disinfector, is also meant to protect USB flash drives. (And hdd's I think)

By putting a protected autorun file / folder or something on it. You cant delete it, unless you use something like Unlocker, to remove it

That way, viruses that infect them, cant write the autorun file to them
