833329 2009-11-25 03:47:00 It opens fine with FF, but a bit slow, though. bk T (215)
833330 2009-11-25 06:46:00 It might well be :) This should help:

Hi Chill I tried this in Win 7 64bit with FF and it didn't make any difference. I tried both NZ sites and the BBC and they still took their time to open and in fact were no quicker. Not getting at you just posting some feedback

Chill has a love affair with opendns, unless you have something specific you need it for it is a waste of time.
Sites don't load any faster, if fact they are sometimes slower.

833332 2009-11-25 07:17:00 Yeah I tried it because I was bored and to see if it really did work, oh well everything is a learning curve at least i tried it and didn't diss it gary67 (56)
833333 2009-11-25 07:37:00 I'd be interested in your pingtest / speedtest results :)

It's also worth noting that it doesn't physically speed up the transfer of the sites, but "finds" them faster than most of the DNS provided by NZ ISP's, not to mention there's less issues with relation to Ads taking their time to load etc.

Not perfect yes, but mostly a step in the right direction. Still, not 100% admittedly. And yes, I'm an OpenDNS fan ;)

833334 2009-11-25 18:05:00 Out of curiosity jcr1, who's your current ISP?

Telecom.

Also Chill, I have OpenDNS set up on my router.
But, here's an anomaly. The link you gave me to your wordpress site, would not open, to start with, as this site also; techtalk.pcpitstop.com

Both, I started in incognito mode and now they open just fine, in Chrome at least. The last link still won't open in FF.

833335 2009-11-25 18:09:00 Try restarting your PC after you've set it up in your router to ensure you get a new DHCP lease with the new DNS server settings (Unless it's already pointing at your router and not at your ISP directly).

What plan and what router?

833336 2009-11-25 18:12:00 Your wordpress one opens in FF, Chill.

The original link I posted, still doesn't. But on the sites I'm having difficulty with (in FF), there's some text in the bottom left hand corner says "waiting for w.sharethis.com...".

833337 2009-11-26 01:40:00 I try them with Chrome & Firefox; same problem.
?

Nothing to do with Windows.
I have Win 7 and can open the example given. Using FF 3.5.

833338 2009-11-26 01:54:00 BTW.

I can still open the example and use OpenDNS for what that may be worth.
