833242 2009-11-25 01:29:00 Would deleting registry entries for Symantec get rid of the problem?

Yes.
Open it, FIND - Symantec, and delete all references. IT will take ages.

833244 2009-11-25 06:00:00 Please explain the below in more detail. Which version of Nortons are trying to remove?

Have you tried in running the correct removal tool in safemode?

Windows installer on the screen?

"the Windows installer is constantly on the screen and won't get rid of itself and the Symantec(Norton's) Symbol remains in the bottom right hand corner of the task bar."

833245 2009-11-25 06:16:00 Sorry, I believe it is Nortons 2003. The tool hasn't been run in Safemode as far as I am aware. The windows installer appeared during an attempted reinstall of Nortons with the view of trying to achieve following the reinstall, a complete uninstall. However, it wouldn't reinstall and the Installer has since remained even after closing the puter down and rebooting on several occasions. smurf (6545)
833246 2009-11-25 06:23:00 Revo uninstaller is another one as good as Glary utilities gary67 (56)
833247 2009-11-25 07:59:00 Ok use it safemode

Rnav for NAV 2003 and earlier:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/misc/consumer/Rnav2003.exe

If installed as part of Nortons Systemworks then you will also need the symclean tool
