833557 2009-11-25 20:01:00 Any pointers on where to get good PVR software (will even pay for it!) – have a video capture card – WIN 7 – 24 bit.
Thanks

833558 2009-11-25 20:33:00 You could try Windows Media Centre (built into some editions of Windows 7), Media Portal, or GBPVR (the latter 2 are free). davidmmac (4619)

To be honest, the built in stuff is pretty crap. And if something like a usb dvb-t tuner, most of them don't work here.

For fully featured pvrs, you can go wrong in looking at W7 MCE (native freeview|HD) or GBPVR/Mediaportal (Freeview\HD via appropriate codec install).

833561 2009-11-25 22:05:00 I'm using an Avermedia USB DVB-T tuner here, with the program it came with.

Its fine. Lets you records / EPG works, teletext works. Only thing it doesnt work in, is MCE in Vista. Oh well, I can live with that. It worked fine in Win7's MCE tho, but it was too flaky / a few issues. So, I went back to Vista. But youre right MCE in Win7, is good. You get the guide / it lets you pause live TV, and you can record.

833563 2009-11-26 06:22:00 Havent tried the tuner in Linux. BUT, yup it should work in Linux. According to the Avermedia site (www.avermedia.com). The drivers maybe in Linux. I cant see the drivers for Linux on the site. Speedy Gonzales (78)
