720296 2008-11-14 23:28:00 I am going to be recording a radio show about the life of Tommy Adderley for the Radio Reading Service (radioreading.org) and I would like to feature very short clips of some of his songs. (The station's licence only allows very short clips.) Unfortunately, it appears quite difficult to find any of his music online. I have tried the Auckland City Library and they have only one tune and that is on an album with some other artists. Good tune, but not enough - I need more than one.

I am hoping that there is someone who not only remembers Tommy Adderley, but also has some recordings, preferably CD, that I may be able to borrow to copy or perhaps someone could copy for me and post or email to me.

In particular I am looking for The Ballard of Jacques La Mere, Good Morning Mr Rock 'n' Roll, Love is Bigger Than The Whole Wide World and I Just Don't Understand. Any or all of those would be appreciated, thanks.

If you are able to help, I am able to handle most formats: open reel and cassette tapes, 78s, 45s, 33s, CDs, mp3s, etc.

Thanks for your help.:thanks

720298 2008-11-15 01:06:00 Hi Roscoe. You'll find a couple of his numbers on You Tube. Scouse (83)
720299 2008-11-15 07:04:00 Bit of a longshot but try the Radio Stations Coast & Solid Gold.

Being a good cause they may be able to help, even if it is by way of playing the tune as a request and you recording it. ;)

720300 2008-11-15 08:55:00 Are TV1 a possibility, given all the recording he did on shows like Happen Inn (sp?) etc? John H (8)
720301 2008-11-16 16:09:00 Sheese... I thought I was old but I can't even remember ever hearing this person's music. Greg (193)
720302 2008-11-17 00:47:00 Scouse: Thanks for that. It is a start. He played a mean blues harp!

Did you know that although he was from Birmingham, he played on the kiwi ignorance of UK accents and told many, by his pretend scouse accent, that he came from that part of the world? Everyone was impressed with someone that came from the same town as Gerry Marsden or John Lennon.

B.M. I shall try that. Sometimes depends who you speak to and how their day has been.

John H: You remember Happen In? Talk about an old bugger!:waughh: Me too.:o

Ken: I did not post the names of those songs just to give you a nostalgia rush! Nice to see it put a smile on your old crinkly face, though.:)

720304 2008-11-17 00:56:00 @ Roscoe - I know one of the women who used to go go dance on it! John H (8)

He certainly did. And he was only 52 (nearly 53) when he died. But it was always a smiley old crinkly face.

Hopefully you have not lost your smile.:)
