834514 2009-11-29 01:16:00 As is it I have a very beaten up (its had water through it plenty, been volt modded etc, even has quite a sag in it now) 8800GT, With Dirt 2 coming out I want to see DX11,

Dont really want to spend big money yet as I'm an Nvidia fanboy so waiting on there new stuff. So considering a 5770 to get my DX11, from what ive seen in benches etc is pretty much on pa with a 4870 which is only slightly gruntier than what I have.

I could go around the corner and pick one up for $300, wouldnt use it for more than 6months I dont think so is it worth it for DX11?

Thoughts please

834515 2009-11-29 03:46:00 DX11 is probably a poor reason to upgrade your GPU any time soon, hell im still waiting for DX10 to impress lol, but the 5770 is a nice card for the price and offers much better performance than a 8800GT so why not. Id probably lean towards a 5770 over a 4870. Battleneter2 (9361)
834516 2009-11-29 06:02:00 Personally, neh....not for $300. Too expensive to justify spending $300, which is probably nearly half of a GTX380 in the near future. qazwsxokmijn (102)
834517 2009-11-29 06:04:00 Im undecided, I do want to see some DX11, and the 8800 must be ready to die anytime soon. Does anyone know anything about new Nvidia cards? hueybot3000 (3646)
834518 2009-11-29 06:13:00 From what I've read all over the net predictions are anywhere between late February to late April. Nvidia won't say much at all.

Be patient man.....you don't want to fork out a good $300 for a mid-end card! $300 is most likely nearly half of a GTX380.....or more than half of a GTX360.

834519 2009-11-29 06:19:00 Wow Nvidia are well behind arent they. Maybe im just bored of my current card, may end up settling for DX10 Dirt 2

Cheers for your input

834520 2009-11-29 06:21:00 To be honest I'm not too fussed with the aesthetic differences between DX10 and 11. I didn't notice much difference between DX10 and DX11 STALKER Clear Sky, and though I have seen the DX11 screenies of Call of Pripyat I don't think going for a 5770 for the sake of DX11 now is a wise idea.

And yeah, Nvidia's pretty ****ed right now. ATI would be happier only if they didn't have problems with their manufacturing process.

834521 2009-11-29 06:24:00 Have you seen the texture videos of Dirt 2? It compares DX10 and 11 and it was love at first site for me, if the difference seen there can be seen on screen il be spendin alot of time staring at my screen lol

The STALKER games were never that pretty though really, I havent seen Clear SKy DX11 but DX10 wasnt overly impressive, maybe it was the lack of landscape that i missed. Had nothing on Crysis anyway IMO.

I thought about going with an 5850/70 but with there problems they're having and alot of shops apparently having no stock I've gone off the idea
