| 834246 | 2009-11-28 05:00:00 | Could be the weather -- look outside - crap - usually high internet usage overall - yesterday was fantastic and fine. I'm on Telstra BB and thats slower to day as well. | wainuitech (129) | ||
| 834247 | 2009-11-28 05:23:00 | Try pings to trademe.co.nz and see what you get? Google is a bad representation as the servers vary when you ping the domain "google.co.nz", and they're overseas too. Pings don't mean decent throughput though (As I've been battling with Telecom about over YouTube videos), so end of the day a traceroute will show you what path it's taking to get to the server but little else. What speeds do you get from here: www.dotalan.co.nz:85 I get over 200KB/sec, and that's only slowed by my router doing the QoS I setup. Bear in mind the plan you are on *is* traffic-managed, to prevent things like P2P / Torrents from saturating the network... That said in my experience it's been great for gaming, browsing, VoIP, and everything except streaming httpvideo. TiVo CASPA Content On Demand works marvelously though! |

| 834253 | 2009-11-28 07:16:00 | It's OK, there's *definitely* a Telecom issue: |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | Tomato - 0 | 201 | 201 | 0 | 1 | 19 | 1 | | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 201 | 201 | 1 | 1 | 21 | 1 | | 210-55-69-144.jetstream.southnet.co.nz - 0 | 201 | 201 | 7 | 12 | 140 | 10 | | No response from host - 100 | 200 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | x6-0-0-v20.akcr10.global-gateway.net.nz - 14 | 200 | 173 | 7 | 8 | 26 | 8 | | g0-1-0.tkcr3.global-gateway.net.nz - 15 | 200 | 171 | 7 | 9 | 51 | 8 | | 202.50.234.78 - 20 | 200 | 161 | 20 | 21 | 38 | 21 | | www.trademe.co.nz - 16 | 200 | 168 | 20 | 20 | 27 | 21 | |________________________________________________| ______|______|______|______|______|______| On hold to Telecom again, turns out that's two rep's now who *don't* know what Packet Loss is ... Edit: If you're suffering packet loss, please ring them (Their helpdesk is 24/7) on 0800 22 55 98 and quote Ticket # 19557130. Gave them pastie.org told him it was my traceroute to TradeMe showing the issue at global-gateway, and instead of visiting it, the team leader of the Teir 1 helpdesk I was speaking to tried to run a traceroute TO pastie.org from his own connection :p fail... |
