834169 2009-11-27 23:22:00 Telecom have informed me that ADSL2+ is now available in my area (Red Hill, Papakura). They talk about superfast broadband. I am on their Explorer plan with a Dynalink ADSL modem. Has anyone done the change over and if so did they notice any appreciable difference in speed. gradebdan (2186)
834170 2009-11-27 23:26:00 Well it should be its 24mb if you get the full speed of ADSL2+. Altho, this may depend on how far you are, from the exchange, on what speed you get Speedy Gonzales (78)
834171 2009-11-27 23:28:00 I am about 400metres from the road side cabinet. gradebdan (2186)
834172 2009-11-27 23:43:00 Should be pretty fast then, its a lot faster than ADSL1, which has a max of 8 mb I think. Just make your router is up to date with updated firmware (to support it). If your modem isnt ADSL2, then you wont get ADSL2 speeds Speedy Gonzales (78)
834173 2009-11-28 00:24:00 Apparently I get a free ADSL2 modem with ethernet and or wireless,so will be ok.Thanks Speedy. gradebdan (2186)

i'm a bit out of date with this but i thought adsl2 was only available direct from exchange, not from road side cabinet.
road side cab don't even give you full speed adsl1

834176 2009-11-28 03:08:00 All the roadside cabinets in fact are now being rolled out with hardware that supports VDSL2, as well as ADSL2+, and again backwards compatible with ADSL1. Chilling_Silence (9)
