834063 2009-11-27 00:52:00 Any one tried Win 7 with XP mode? I have downloaded the required files and about to install but wondered if anyone has tried it and had issues?

Have Win 7 Pro so is compatible.

834064 2009-11-27 01:03:00 Yep use it often - no problems at all.

So far all the Windows 7 PC's I have built have had W7Pro and XP mode - last one I built the guy had 6 programs that were very old and windows 7 didn't want to know about them - ran fine in XP mode.

The price difference between Home Pre and Pro - well made up for having to buy new versions of software.

Make sure your CPU supports hardware virtualization or XP-Mode won't work, you'll hafta run it as a regular VM.

834069 2009-11-27 09:08:00 Which file is telling you this, the first part or second - the larger of the two has to be installed first.

Never had to run it as admin yet and I've installed it many times- just use the default settings. IF you are changing the default location this could be why you are getting the message.

mate i don't ask for help unless i do actually need it.

And its the second file when you go from the start menu on fist run i have to change location otherwise C:\ will have like 2GB left and I don't like that. I attempt to place it in D in a folder called XP Mode ironically.

need a SS?

834071 2009-11-27 20:00:00 Sounds to me like you might be better off making the C partition a bit bigger so that it can install in the location that it wants to gary67 (56)
