721227 2008-11-19 22:52:00 What would you have them do though?

Keep their promises, while making the whole country bankrupt? Just to prove a point?

When they made the promises, everything was different. They couldn't have foreseen the extent of what's happened. And none of us could really rightly expect for them to live up to their promises anymore. They're being responsible.

If it were possible to do FTTH and everything else, I'm sure that they would do what they could. But the thing is that they can't. Not responsibly anyway.

All very true, but keep in mind that he isn't interested in the truth, reality, real world, or cold hard facts.

721229 2008-11-20 00:33:00 And you blame this on a political party that has been in power for ONE DAY rather than blaming a party that had been leading the country for the preceding NINE YEARS?

That sort of sums it up

721230 2008-11-20 01:34:00 I'm no expert but looks as the Total central government debt has been on an upward trend since 1998

721231 2008-11-20 02:19:00 Does debt take into account Govt Bonds?

They're effectively the govt borrowing from us.

Could make the situation look less grim.

Mmm, but fairly obvious it was all going down the toilet .
An we should expect parties to keep promises, regardless of who they are .

Points for John Key though, I heard on the radio this morning, he isn't taking his salary - it gets donated to charity . Good on him for that .

He's donating his pay rise, not his entire salary... Good for him!
