719969 2008-11-15 19:12:00 And because they had no AMD CPU's they couldnt tell whether the mobo or CPU were fried

I have NO IDEA how they killed it. When I took it down (because the bloody firewire wouldnt work or start, because of a code 10).

They hooked it up, it was going fine, they spent like 30 or so mins trying to get the firewire to work. Next minute they pressed the on/off button. Silence. The fans etc were spinning, but no beeps and nothing on screen.

Well, 99% of the time its going to be the motherboard. So didn't matter whether or not they had spare CPUs.

And I don't see that as they killed it. It had a fault already, then it stopped functioning altogether. How is that their fault?

WHat brand and model was it BTW?

719970 2008-11-15 19:33:00 Pass, well whether it was their fault or not, I wasn't going to buy another mobo

Unless, it was replaced with something else

All I know, it was going here (before it went back to the shop, and while it was in the shop). When they were trying to fix the firewire prob

719971 2008-11-16 01:07:00 Well yeah, if you got it from them, then yes they replace it. With another of the same model, or similar if it was obsolete. Which it isn't. pctek (84)
719972 2008-11-16 01:38:00 Well true its not obsolete, but they dont stock AMD's now either.

I cant do much about that. And I no longer have the AMD CPU now anyway. And dont plan on getting another

This was the 2nd model of the same mobo. Altho, now I believe the first one wasnt faulty at all. It was the monitor. Which is going in the bin shortly.

Unless I can be bothered, replacing 3 capacitors (could be more), on the power PCB

Or wait for DSE to send a replacement PCB to the local store in town
