Agreed, it is almost enjoyable to drive again. Esp when you use the Pak N Save fuel coupons.

Dont laugh - our ones we get every Friday if you spend over $150 ( easy to do) in Pak N Save have a discount of 20 cents a litre :banana

719937 2008-11-13 01:16:00 I don't use my car very much and the price has come down by about 50c since I last filled up. Its becoming time to fill my car up again plus I have a 20c supermarket discount voucher.

Eh? I smell BS here .

How does a decrease in demand make the cost of production cheaper?

They're covering up that they made it expensive just because they could, I guess .

Tsk Tsk Tsk!

You are SO-o-o-o smart what with buttoning your own shoes and pulling up your own pantaloons by now and yet . . . . yet you cannot understand the economics of the petroleum production situation .

I am aghast! Say it ain't so!

See, first the Earth was very hot and then after it cooled twenty million years then the dinosaurs showed up . . . and don't call me Shirley!

719939 2008-11-13 01:46:00 How about Meryl?

Josephine?

I had a blonde moment... if it helps it's (very relatively) hot here?

How about early onset dementia? Would that work?

Actually I would have thought that with the Northern winter coming on the demand would be rising again.

719941 2008-11-13 10:15:00 Would you say the price of petrol petulantly plummeted more or less quickly than a labour politicians ego?

Back to the question : I suppose the petrol companies would be fascinated to hear someone actually listened to what they actually said given the BS they normally spin. Next time they might slip in the 'flying spaghetti monster' to see if anyone is really listening....

719942 2008-11-13 10:26:00 I understand that oil companies use a very complicated and esoteric method to determine price at the pump. It involves blood sacrifices (of beautiful virgins - if they can find any), monkey bones shaken from a cup made from a mutant elephant's left hind foot, bistromathics (see Hitchhikers Guide) and chaos theory....

They couldn't even spell "logic" if you wrote it down on a piece of paper first.

719943 2008-11-13 18:16:00 I met a guy with a large stake in Fonterra once, and we talked about milk prices.

He said that they were largely based on petrol prices, which I guessed was because petrol would be such a big overhead for them.

I said this, and he said no. He said it was just that it was something to reference off.

So for all this time that cheese has been ~$10 a kilo, they've just been fleecing us for no good reason. He had a nice big smile on his face when he explained this. (He said it slightly nicer than this). Made me a little sick, really.

719944 2008-11-14 08:01:00 Priceless. Or should I say baseless? For years I have queried why petrol was more expensive than petrol per litre - but now I know why. It was a rising tide such that one never caught the other!! andrew93 (249)

I think I'd lay off the pills if I were you.

Pays to read over posts just after you post them. :p
