2009-11-27 05:51:00 | Got beaten to it! (DD-WRT firmware for WL-520GU) (www.dd-wrt.com) (Tomato Firmware for WL-520GU) (www.mediafire.com) (I used standard variation) Just follow the instructions from the other post.

2009-11-27 06:05:00 | Got beaten to it! Ahh oops I posted to DD-WRT  (Tomato Firmware for WL-520GU) (www.mediafire.com) (I used standard variation) That one will work. I've used XWRT, DD-WRT, Tomato on the WL all work fine  I usually choose the smallest image file available for the device and go from there.

2009-11-27 21:17:00 | I wrote some doco a wee while back for that too, with pretty pictures and all: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Grab the larger file, the one for the WL-520GU, process is the same for Tomato as DD-WRT

2009-11-28 13:42:00 | Yeah sorry guys I should have been more detailed. You have my word that I am going to try to find a way to easily ID if you have a vulnerability, and as soon as I get it, I will let you know. I guess a good starting point, is just knowing and understanding that these new worms can and do exist was part of what I was keen on sharing! :) This from the blog, and this is basically what I recommend: --- But regardless, I would log into your router, and check the firmware is the most up to date. This is a good idea anyway, and a lot of people report faster speeds as a result. If you dont know how to access your router, you can check out the details from my Broadband Modem support pages because I have listed what I know almost every modem every sold (If I missed one just message me in my DSL support forum). My modem section also has the helpdesk Phone listings for all modem manufacturers who sell modems which are allowed to be sold in NZ (Telepermitted by Telecom NZ) * !! * Be aware that upgrading the modem firmware can be a risky business, and could cause it to become bricked (the process of turning a nice operational Broadband router into a brick), but this is a lot worse than the possible damage that could be done by a compromised modem plugged into your network. If you arent sure - call the modem helpdesk (or maybe your ISP helpdesk depending how you like them - I have lists of the ISP contact details here also. ------ If you need help, just message my board or blog, and I am happy to help out in anyway that I can. :-)

2009-11-29 02:33:00 | I'll assume since I have a Dynalink RTA1320 running default firmware (latest version) that I am not at risk | Agent_24 (57) | |
2009-11-29 03:28:00 | I have certainly not heard of any Dynalink 1320 issues, and I agree that it would be fairly unlikely that by now it had not been discovered, given how long the worm has been out in the wild! :-) The guys at Dynalink are in my opinion really quite switched on, and have well written firmware. That said, I would have CERTAINLY said that about Linksys, and they were taken out also. I am currently trying to see if I can build a webserver that can you get checked from. If anyone is great with Linux, and has a spare evening or 2 to help a Linux newbie try to work through the code, then it would be appreciated. Who knows, it might be good on the karma front. :-)

2009-11-29 10:45:00 | The guys at Dynalink are in my opinion really quite switched on, and have well written firmware. That's why I got it, D-link firmware is horrible. Dynalink on the other hand have firmware which doesn't hurt my eyes and also doesn't require a reboot for almost every single change.

I think it is fair to say that the Dlinks have had a fair share of issues. BTW, dunno if you noticed the Dlink vulnerabilities blog I posted after my last one about the PsyB0t vulnerabilities www.adslgeek.com |
