| 723301 | 2008-11-26 23:52:00 | I have just inherited some elderly teach-yourself woodworking tapes from a friend. Has anyone had success in converting similar to CD or DVD? I still have an old video player in the workshop. I did manage to convert some music from from LP to CD some time ago but I have not read much about converting video. OOps I've just spotted the Similar Threads item at the bottom of my screen...... from 2001 to 2006 - off I go..... |

| 723302 | 2008-11-27 00:24:00 | Easiest way is to find someone who has a DVD/HDD recorder. Connect your VCR to it and record. If you really want to do it on a computer then you will need a video capture card or TV Tuner card and the right software. |

| 723305 | 2008-11-27 02:22:00 | You can do it with a tuner as well. As long as its got video in. Just use the program it comes with to record It'll save as WMV / Mpeg / whatever. Then all you have to do is burn it I've done that here. The recording is as good as the video |

| 723306 | 2008-11-27 04:02:00 | Hi CYaBro..... I have such a DVD/HDD device. Care to tell me the process? Thanks :) Does you VCR have AV outputs? Get an AV cable. These are usually yellow, red & white plugs on both ends but if your VCR has only yellow and white outputs then you will need a splitter on the DVD end otherwise you will only be recording the audio in mono (left speaker channel) All you need to do is connect the AV cable to the outputs on the VCR and into one of the inputs on the DVD recorder. AV1 or AV2. Set the DVD recorder to the input that you have the cable attached to, start playing the tape in the VCR and hit record on the DVD recorder. |

| 723307 | 2008-11-27 08:06:00 | A Domestic DVD recorder will record and burn whatever is input via the AV(scart socket) or the AE(RF) soket. Set the DVD to AV for scart input record. If you use RF in, tune a channel on the DVD to the output of the VCR. You will get a copy of your VCR input for burning DVD. I have copied all my VHS tapes to DVD this way. Good Luck. |
