2008-11-26 06:39:00 | Its a good setup, but it doesn't seem very user friendly. I'd have a programmable universal remote with a whole lotta macros. Preferably an RF universal remote, so that you don't have to 'point' it. Planning on doing something similar wainuitech? I work for a company that does av installs similar to this, just usually less DIY and more integrated.

2008-11-26 06:52:00 | I Like the layout of the TV in the lounge along with the roll away big screen. The bathroom is on the " to do " list" in the renovations around here - the one day plan - maybe during the xmas break if I get the back window frames removed and repaired in the kitchen and still got time - damn wood rot  think I'll ignore the TV in the bathroom, maybe the one in the bedroom I'll think about

2008-11-26 07:34:00 | I should add, never done anything with Windows Media Center or any PC based stuff. Mostly multi room amps or specialist home theater amps. TV in the bathroom would be nice. The screen setup is very well done, just a small slot in the ceiling is very aesthetically pleasing!

2008-11-26 08:35:00 | I helped a mate out on a house in Auckland a couple of months back. In the master ensuite they had a his & hers hand basin each with a mirror and in each mirror we put a TV.

2008-11-26 10:10:00 | OSH would not approve of TV's in the bathroom. Anyone (Except Cicero) catching a glimpse of JonKey in the mirror while they were shaving may have an uncontrollable urge to cut their throat. (Cicero possibly has a different politician in mind.) ;) | R2x1 (4628) | |
2008-11-26 19:27:00 | Excellent link, thanks for posting that. I have a similar system at home, but we are renting so i cant go to the lengths hes gone to yet..... HTPC downstairs connected to 42" Samsung Plasma, Bluray drive, Dolby DTS sound system arranged around the couch. All remote controlled. Has Xbox360 controllers for gaming on the plasma Gets its media from the server upstairs via ethernet over power system (i dont like cables) Server has 3x1tb drives holding TV shows, movies, I've imaged my entire DVD collection (boxed sets and so on) onto the movie drive as I hate having to get up and change discs :) Server runs streaming app, which transcodes anything on the drives on the fly and feeds it out wirelessly to my sony PSP's, So instead of sitting in bed on a cold night reading a book I can pick up the psp and watch a movie. Two PSP's at a time at the moment. All the machines in the house (7 at the moment) run backups each night onto a cluster of NAS drives. I'm very keen on smart house stuff :)
